The Guggenheim Grotto – Her Beautiful Ideas

I love animation… I have ever since I would watch the Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show with my dad every Saturday morning. So when someone puts together a beautifully animated video I tend to pay a bit more attention than usual. This song has a beautifully animated video.

While the song probably isn’t anything special and the video isn’t anything too technical, the two of them together create something that just makes me forget all that. When I listen all I hear is the banjo in this song taking on the lead with a nice colorful xylophone and string section filling in the dead space behind it creating a beautifully full sound with just the right dynamics to balance the whole thing perfectly. And then the jumpy camera that almost skips in beat to the music gives the whole thing a DIY feeling that has become a hallmark of the current Indie scene. It’s entirely possible that this is a pretty typical indie song with nothing that special going on… But I just can’t see far enough beyond this fantastic stop-motion video to realize that quite yet.
